Conscious Touch Therapy
Touch therapy at Nurturing Souls is slow, consent-led, non-sexual contact — usually to the hands, shoulders, upper back or feet — used to settle an activated nervous system. Every point of contact is asked for, and you can stop or change anything at any moment without explaining why.
- Duration
- 45–60 minutes
- Format
- One-to-one, fully clothed, always consent-led
Why does touch settle the nervous system?
Because safety is not a thought. It is a physiological state, and the body reads it from the environment long before the mind forms an opinion.
Slow, warm, predictable contact is one of the oldest signals a human nervous system recognises. Breathing deepens, heart rate drops, and the low-level vigilance that many people carry all day begins to release. No conversation achieves this as directly, which is why touch therapy often helps people who have talked about their situation at length without feeling any different.
How is a session held?
You stay fully clothed and either sit or lie down. We talk first — about what you want, what you do not want, and what a pause would sound like from you.
Then contact begins in the least loaded place, usually the hands or feet. It is still rather than moving. There are long silences. Megha checks in periodically, and you are free to change your mind about anything at any point, including something you agreed to ten minutes earlier.
The session ends with several minutes of no contact, so you leave settled rather than abruptly.
Who is this for?
People who have gone a long time without safe physical contact — those living alone, those who have come through a bereavement or the end of a relationship, those whose work keeps them in their heads all day.
It is also valuable for anyone who describes themselves as "not really in my body". That sense of disconnection often responds to contact more quickly than to insight.
What we are careful about
This is the practice we are most deliberate about, because touch can be exactly the wrong thing offered at the wrong time. If your history makes physical contact loaded, we say so plainly, go slower, and are entirely willing for a session to consist of nothing but two people breathing in the same room.
All work is non-sexual, fully clothed, and boundaried. If anything ever feels otherwise, say so and it stops immediately.
Healing practices offered at Nurturing Souls support emotional well-being and are not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.
