Inner Child Healing
Inner child healing is guided psychological work that returns to the moments where you first learned a pattern — usually in childhood — and meets the need that went unmet then. It is not about blaming parents or reliving pain. It is about giving an old, still-active reaction the response it never received.
- Duration
- 60–75 minutes per session
- Format
- One-to-one, in person in Gurugram or online
What is the inner child, in plain terms?
It is not a separate self living inside you. It is a shorthand for the part of your nervous system that formed early and still runs on the rules it learned then.
A child who found that being upset made things worse learns to go quiet. That was intelligent at the time. Thirty years on, the same person goes silent in a disagreement with their partner and cannot explain why. The strategy outlived the situation that made it necessary.
Inner child healing is the work of noticing that, and offering the response that was missing.
How do you know if this is what you need?
The clearest signal is disproportion. Something small happens — a message goes unanswered, a tone of voice shifts — and the reaction that arrives is much bigger than the event. That gap between the size of the trigger and the size of the response is usually old material.
Other common signs: apologising reflexively, finding it almost impossible to ask for help, feeling responsible for other people's moods, or knowing your history perfectly well and still feeling it in your chest every time.
What happens in a session?
We begin with what is happening in your life now, because that is where the pattern is showing itself. From there we trace it back — gently, and only as far as you can stay grounded. You are not asked to dredge anything up.
Much of the work is done in the body rather than in narrative: noticing where the feeling sits, staying with it, and letting it complete rather than be pushed down again. Sessions end with time to come back to the present properly. You do not leave mid-way through something.
Why is it done slowly?
Because doing it quickly does not work, and can do harm. Opening old material without the capacity to hold it re-teaches the nervous system that feeling is dangerous — the opposite of what we are here for.
So the early sessions often look less dramatic than people expect. That groundwork is what makes the later sessions safe.
What this work is not
It is not a way of assigning blame. Most of the adults in these stories were doing what they could with what they had. Understanding a pattern's origin is useful because it explains the present, not because it produces a culprit.
It is also not a single cathartic release. What changes is quieter: the reaction gets smaller, the recovery gets faster, and eventually the thing that used to knock you sideways is just a thing that happened.
Healing practices offered at Nurturing Souls support emotional well-being and are not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.
