Aqua Meditation
Aqua meditation is a guided practice done in warm, shallow water — floating or half-submerged — where the water takes most of your weight. Because the body stops holding itself up, the guarding that usually sits in the shoulders, jaw and hips lets go, and emotion tends to move more easily than it does on dry land.

Why does water change what a meditation can reach?
On land, a part of you is always working. Muscles hold you upright, the jaw stays set, the shoulders stay a little raised — most people have no idea they are doing it until it stops.
In warm water, that job is taken away. The body has nothing to brace against, and within a few minutes the holding pattern releases. What surfaces once it does is often emotional rather than physical, because a great deal of what we call "stress" is stored as muscular guarding. Let the guarding go and the feeling underneath becomes available.
This is why people who have meditated for years sometimes find that a single aqua session reaches something their seated practice never touched.
What happens in an aqua meditation session?
You enter warm, shallow water and are supported — either floating with gentle assistance or resting half-submerged. Megha guides the breath slowly, then says less and less. There is no visualisation to follow and no posture to maintain. Long stretches of the session are silent.
Towards the end you are brought back gradually, with time to sit at the edge before standing. Nobody is asked to describe what happened unless they want to.
Who is aqua meditation for?
It suits people who know something is stuck but cannot get at it by talking or thinking. It also suits those who have found seated meditation physically uncomfortable — anyone with back pain, restlessness, or a body that simply will not settle on a cushion.
If you have been feeling flat or numbed rather than actively distressed, water is often a gentler way back into feeling than a conversation would be.
How does it fit with other work?
Aqua meditation pairs well with inner child healing and with one-to-one sessions: the water opens things, and the talking work makes sense of them. Many people use it as a periodic release alongside a regular practice rather than as a standalone therapy.
It is not suitable if you have an open wound, an active skin infection, or a condition that makes immersion unsafe. Please tell us beforehand and we will advise honestly.
